2021 Monera

Set on the slope of the transverse San Rafael mountain range just 16 miles from the cold Pacific Ocean, this is a late-ripening, very cool climate site with a serious sense of place. Our rows in the coveted Z Block are on a high shelf of marine loam and shale soils high above the valley floor farmed for wines of the highest quality. This is the latest Syrah picked, slowly developing rich fruit notes while maintaining classic savory Syrah notes and plenty of freshness. 

The Monera has a terrific balance of fresh, sweet, and savory notes – flavors of blackberry, plum, cedar, fresh violets, forest foliage, black peppercorn, and culinary herbs. This wine has a really silky, fresh entry, with blueberry, black plum, cedar, wonderful herbal notes, forest foliage, black pepper, herbs, and wild game flavors, great texture, and a really long finish.
