2023 Sun Chase Vineyard Pinot Noir
Located in the Northwest corner of Sonoma County, the Petaluma Gap is known for producing premium Pinot Noir. With hillsides sitting above 1,400 feet, Sun Chase Vineyard is one of the most highly sought-after vineyards in the Petaluma Gap that draws brisk winds and cooling fog from the coast toward the San Pablo Bay. Its climate is heavily influenced by cool ocean breezes, but it sits above the fog line for a nice balance of heat stress on the grapevines, allowing for slow and even maturation of the fruit.
Picked at ideal ripeness, maintaining cooler fermentation temperatures and pressing at dryness, our Pinot Noir undergoes secondary fermentation while aging in French and American oak barrels for nine months. Its deeply intense burgundy color is developed by the extended coastal sun exposure high upon the mountain top vineyard, making for a unique wine. The nose expresses aromas of black cherry, pomegranate, spice and mocha. A sip reveals flavors of juicy raspberries, vanilla, caramel. This wine balances acidity, with supple tannins complexed by a velvety smooth finish.
