2023 Elizabeth Rose Flora

Out of the 19 grape varieties that are grown throughout our acreage, Flora is the most exotic. This cultivar is a cross between Semillon and Gewürztraminer. Flora was developed in 1938 by Dr. Harold Olmo, a renowned grape breeder and geneticist that made numerous impactful contributions to the wine industry through his research at UC Davis. Flora berries characteristically have pink skin during veraison, which Andrew Hoxsey refers to as “Pinkies”. Yount Mill Vineyards is the only growers of this rare variety in the state of California, excluding two vines that are planted in UC Davis for the purpose of preservation. Our original blocks of Flora were established in 2003 in our Block House Vineyard located in Yountville, Napa Valley. However, there was an additional planting in 2019 due to popular demand.
