A century of Toso family roots, now making Barbaresco from Neive's finest cru.

Neive, Barbaresco DOCG, Piedmont, Italy

The Toso family's roots in Neive stretch back to 1894, when Giovanni Toso acquired Cascina Longoria and began recognizing the land's potential for viticulture. For five generations the family farmed these hills, selling grapes and quietly building their knowledge of one of Piedmont's most celebrated wine communes. The turning point came in 1991 when they acquired the historic Farmhouse Le Doti itself, along with prime vineyard land in the Bordini cru that surrounds it — one of Neive's most respected sites for Barbaresco.

With the 2020 vintage, cousins Alessandra and Davide Toso formally adopted the name Le Doti to honor the farmhouse, and marked a new chapter in the family's story: Alessandra became the first woman in five generations of the Toso family to lead the winemaking process. The wines she produces have immediately impressed — precise, lifted, and deeply expressive of Neive's particular terroir.
