Two brothers farming the sandy hills of Roero — one of Piedmont's most exciting young estates.

Roero, Piedmont, Italy

Casa Tallone is a young, ambitious winery in the Roero — the lesser-known but increasingly celebrated wine country on the opposite bank of the Tanaro River from the Langhe. Brothers Davide and Matteo Sacchetto started modestly in 2013 with just a few rows of vines, driven by a shared conviction that Roero's distinctive sandy soils and steep hillsides could produce wines of real character. A decade later, they've built one of the most interesting small estates in Piedmont.

The Roero sits across the river from Alba, with a completely different geological story than the Langhe — lighter, sandier soils that give Arneis its famous salty freshness and lend Nebbiolo an unusually fruity, approachable character distinct from the more structured Barolos and Barbarescos across the valley. Casa Tallone is a direct expression of that difference.
