Wild mountain Nebbiolo and rare indigenous varieties from Alto Piemonte's UNESCO forests.

Boca DOC, Alto Piemonte, Piedmont, Italy

Silvia Barbaglia runs her family's winery in one of Italy's most dramatically beautiful and least-explored wine regions — Alto Piemonte, the mountainous northern stretch of Piedmont where ancient forests, rocky Alpine terrain, and sweeping panoramic views define the landscape as much as the vineyards. The region was recently designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, recognition long overdue for an area with centuries of winegrowing history.

The project began as a shared vision between Silvia and her father, and today she manages the estate herself — over 8 hectares of vineyards nestled within the dense forests of Alto Piemonte, farmed with boundless energy and a fierce commitment to the terroir that makes this corner of Piedmont unlike anywhere else. Silvia is as much an ambassador for Alto Piemonte as she is a winemaker — tireless in championing a region that deserves far more attention than it gets.
