Syrah is gaining in popularity and has grown from a little under 400 acres planted in California in the early 1990’s to over 20,000 acres today. As it is one of the more vigorous vines, Syrah requires extra attention in the vineyard with farmers being aggressive in thinning the crop, to reduce crop volume but increase fruit quality. The small vineyard that sources the Goosecross Syrah from just north of the city of Napa, provides ideal warm days, cool nights and rocky soil conditions – a little of the Rhone Valley on your doorstep.
